Gourmet Escapists

Perched on a rocky hillside, in Cascais, overlooking a long stretch of fine sand stands the Moorish looking Michelin starred Hotel Fortelaza Do Guincho. The historic legacy of this traditional fortress dates back to 1762 when Spain was in the 7 year war with Portugal.  All of the interiors have been sympathetically restored since most of the original building was blown up by Spanish troops.

A stunning testimony to the influences from the time, the interiors of the hotel combine traditional statues of saints, with ornately dressed opulent rooms in hues of purple, deep orange and blues with rich velours. The luxurious public and private rooms, combine original authenticity, with modern comfort.  Its Michelin star restaurant is based on classic French and Portuguese influences.
